Support is building for Australia to win back the Ashes on home soil after a disappointing 3-0 loss to England earlier this year.

Australia has been backed from $2.80 into $2.50 to win the series and regain the urn with England easing from $1.80 out to $2.10. A drawn series is at odds of $5.50.

“The punters have really come for Australia in the last week with 60% of all series bets taken on the Aussies to win,” Sportingbet’s Michael Felgate said.

“England hasn’t had the best preparation since arriving over here with rain and a few injuries disrupting the team and the punters are happy to take them on.”

“After Kevin Pietersen called Australians convicts on twitter yesterday, I expect more local money will come for the Aussies,” Felgate said.

The money for an Australian series win is reflected in betting for next week’s First Test where Australia has again been well backed into a $2.40 favourite, England is $2.55 with a draw $3.75.

“Australia has a very good record at the Gabba and the punters expect that to continue. England dominated the Aussies at home in the last series but the punters have gone cold on them in the lead-up to the First Test,” Felgate said.

Michael Clarke, $3.75 into $3.50, and David Warner, $6.50 into $5, have been the best backed Australians to score the most runs in the series with Ryan Harris tipped to take the most wickets for Australia at $3.
